In 1981, the spark was lit when Phil talked Pat into picking up a bass guitar, setting the stage for a high-decibel journey. Pat dove into a few lessons, but the raw energy of those early sessions was too electric to ignore—they officially launched Ambush and never looked back. It wasn’t just about learning notes; it was about the rush of creating a sound that would eventually fill Minnesota ballrooms.

As Pat and Phil kicked off their senior year, Ambush leveled up with a fresh drummer and keyboardist. The band started tearing through the Minnesota bar and ballroom circuit, playing a high-energy mix of ’60s classics, ’70s anthems, and the latest ’80s hits. For a couple of young rockers, life couldn’t have been better.

Over the past 10 years, since reuniting, Pat and Phil have continued to build on a musical legacy spanning decades. From ’60s classics to modern hits, their enduring partnership remains the heartbeat of their sound

Phil has been playing music in bands for over 50 years. He has played with many bands over the years, including country, polkas and waltzes, rock, jazz, and orchestral.

Phil plays several instruments, including the guitar, keys, accordion, and violin.

Phil’s last rock band was Outside Recess. He had a great time playing the greatest hits from the 80’s with outstanding musicians.
